City of Waterloo Resumes University Avenue Construction

The City of Waterloo and their contractor will resume work on the reconstruction of the University Avenue Reconstruction Project Phases 1 and 2 from Midway Drive to Evergreen Avenue and begin Phase 3 from Evergreen Avenue to Hwy 63.

For the week of March 23, 2020, University Avenue traffic will have lane closures from east of Cedar Heights Drive to Falls Avenue and from Englewood Avenue to Howrey Avenue. Waterloo’s contractor will begin Phase 3 work and resume work on Phase 2 to prepare for the traffic shift. The head-to-head traffic shift for Phase 2 will begin the week of March 30 depending on the weather. Phase 3 will close from east of Knoll Avenue to Hwy 63 beginning the week of March 30 depending on the weather. During this time, University Avenue from Cedar Heights Drive to Hwy 63 will remain open and access to the frontage roads will remain. Please see the attached maps showing the construction zone highlighted for next week.

For safety purposes, please do not enter the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed lanes. It would be advisable to remain behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.
